John Hewett, Board member
John founded Smedvig Capital in 1996 with Peter Smedvig where he has been Chief Executive since its
inception. Since that time he has been instrumental in the financing and development of more than 25
companies at all stages from start-up through to flotation.
Prior to Smedvig, John was at Bain & Company working on a range of strategic and operational issues in
a variety of sectors including retail, leisure and financial services. He began his career in investment
banking spending six years in equity capital markets for Hill Samuel and later NatWest markets where he
was an assistant director involved in all elements of equity and equity related financings. He has an
MBA from the Harvard Business School.
He is also a board member of Blinkpoint, Clearvision, Exchange Group (Chairman), ITIS Holdings plc, Ocean
Outdoor, Streetcar, SUSO and Trefoil.
