Michael Fogelberg

MD and Board member

Michael holds a degree in International Business and Finance from Seattle University. During his years in the US, Michael conducted several studies of the self storage concept. When Michael returned to Europe in 1992, a subsidiary of Grana International was being formed in Belgium – European Self-Storage SA – and Michael was in charge of the development of the company.

Michael initiated contact with and cooperation with Shurgard Storage Centers Inc. in Seattle, and was involved in all negotiations that led to the formation of the partnership in 1994. Michael was responsible for opening the first six facilities in Belgium before moving to Sweden in 1997, where he established the business on the Scandinavian market and was MD in both Sweden and Denmark. Since 1997, Michael has been responsible for opening about 35 stores, and Shurgard is now a well-known brand in both Sweden and Denmark.

Michael is one of the founders and President of the Federation
of European Self Storage Associations, and he also serves on the Board
of the Swedish Self Storage Association.
